Cote Hill Blue

Cote Hill Blue is one of our best sellers in our Deli stores. Perhaps not a huge surprise, being Lincolnshire based and a Lincolnshire cheese. But frankly, this cheese is one of the best blue cheeses we sell. The Davenport family created Britain’s first Brie style cheese and they created a master piece!

All pieces are hand cut and weight approx.

A blue cheese that has a wonderful balance between the rich creaminess of the milk and peppery bite from the P.Roquefortii mould. It matures from a slightly chalky centre to a creamy sometime runny texture. The natural rind contains an array of moulds that develop the flavour of the cheese. One of our best sellers, ever since we started selling a small selection of cheeses, all those year ago.

The story of how Cote Hill cheeses came to be is remarkably similar to our own story. Just like the price of Pigs dropped so much, we started making Sausages, here at Grasmere Farm; the price of the liquid milk fell so Michael and Mary Davenport had to diversify. After a short course in cheese making they created Britain’s first unpasteurised, soft, blue, Brie-style cheese- Cote Hill Blue!

Each piece is wrapped and then put in a bag. Keep refrigerated but best served at room temperature.
