The Deeping Business Awards celebrate the independent businesses at the heart of the Market Deeping and Deeping St James and surrounding community. There are outstanding retailers in the Deepings — businesses that serve their community with pride and have done so for generations. To be recognised among them, and to receive this award again, means a great deal to everyone at Grasmere Farm.
What the Award Recognises
The Retailer of the Year award at the Deeping Business Awards recognises businesses that serve their local community with consistently high standards — in product quality, customer service, and commitment to the area.
For Grasmere Farm, that means two things above all: the quality of what we put in front of customers, and the people who serve them every day.
Our team at the Market Deeping butcher’s shop and our Market Gate Deli get to know their customers — many of whom have been shopping with us for years. They know your preferences, remember what you asked for last time, and care about what ends up on your table. That relationship is not something you can manufacture. It builds over time, and it is the foundation of everything we do in those two shops.
A Family Business Since 1969
Grasmere Farm has been producing traditionally crafted meat from Lincolnshire for decades, when Stuart Stables’ family began farming in the south of the county. From those beginnings, the business has grown into one of the region’s most recognised independent butchers — with shops in Market Deeping, Stamford, and Bourne, a deli, and a UK-wide online delivery service.
Over the years, our products have won recognition at the Great Taste Awards, the British Pie Awards, and the Bacon Connoisseur’s national competition, where our hickory-smoked bacon was named the best in the country.
The Team Behind the Award
Awards like this don’t belong to a business — they belong to the people in it.
The Retailer of the Year recognition is a reflection of every member of the Grasmere team: the butchers preparing every cut to the same standard every day, the kitchen team behind our award-winning pies and deli range, the people packing online orders and making sure they arrive in perfect condition, and the shop teams in Market Deeping who are the face of Grasmere to their customers every single week.
